Quantum Asset Management, Business Lending Group, Par Equity, Mansard Capital, and Kynaston-Carnoustie Financial Consultancy ,will also be teaming up with Capital Platform.
After the FSA's recent and on-going report and its conclusions on the profound lack of knowledge of UCIS and how to recommend UCIS products, financial intermediaries have come to think that UCIS are indeed "very difficult", and/or that they should stop recommending UCIS altogether.
But UCIS are not a road that can be avoided. Removing all unregulated products from a portfolio is as unsuitable as recommending UCIS to any wholesale client, and with the RDR in 2012 comes the obligation of knowing UCIS products altogether.
Key seminar topics:
- Understanding & using UCIS safely
- FSA compliance
- In-depth analysis of four types of UCIS products
The Capital Platform boutique (which specializes in alternative investments) and threesixty services (who specialize in providing regulatory and compliance advice to a huge number of IFA's) will together be visiting venues across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, and Scotland.
Although threesixty have just successfully finished a range of roadshows in the U.K. with over 600 IFA's attending, Capital Platform felt threesixty was the perfect IFA Network match to support their members.
Managing Director of Capital Platform, Darren Beddard, said:
"We knew it was the right time to start to share our specialist knowledge to the industry as it embarks on the latest products and the launch of the new capitalplatform.co.uk website exclusive to IFAs.
"We are fully supportive of the recent coverage regarding the FSA’s investigations into the way some companies have been selling UCIS to their clients and at the same time we are aware that many IFA firms, including some of our members, do not have the full picture on when and how they should look at the UCIS market as a potential investment for suitable client."
David Ingram, Partner at threesixty services, commented:
“We specialize in providing regulatory and compliance advice to a huge number of IFA's and the feedback we have had from them is that UCIS products are more and more in demand among their clients.
"Sophisticated advisers understand the importance that these products will play in the future, and the smart ones are making sure that they can fully support their recommendations – be that to use UCIS or to avoid them.”
In addition, with the implementation of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR), due in 2012, and the widening of the definition of the whole of market to include UCIS. The compliant promotion of UCIS is now high on the agenda for the IFA community.
RDR rules dictate that financial advisers must be able to both ‘consider’ UCIS and understand how they work if they are to remain independent.
Each seminar will include presentations from some of the leading UCIS products in today’s investment market, workshops and panel sessions designed to give IFA's detailed guidance on how to promote UCIS products to their clients, compliance with FSA regulation and an insight into the range of products available in the market.
Almost 250 IFAs from across the UK have already signed up to attend the seminars.
