The Mortgage & Protection Summit 2025, hosted by Financial Reporter Events, provided mortgage brokers and protection advisers with a valuable opportunity to enhance their industry knowledge, gain CPD-accredited education, and engage with leading lenders and service providers.
The event opened with a keynote presentation from Gareth Herbert, distribution director at Mortgage Advice Bureau, and featured a protection panel with Vitality, Legal & General, MetLife, and The Protection Coach, as well as a mortgage panel with Pepper Money, Accord Mortgages, Fleet Mortgages, and Santander. Both panels were hosted by Andrew Montlake from Coreco and AMI.
With nearly 100 brokers in attendance, the event focused on the most pressing topics in the mortgage and protection sectors, including affordability challenges, evolving lending criteria, regulatory changes, and the role of protection in financial planning. Sessions were designed to equip brokers with practical insights and strategies to help them better support their clients and navigate an increasingly complex market.
One of the key discussions centred on Consumer Duty and regulatory compliance, a topic of growing importance for brokers. A survey conducted during the event found that 35% of brokers felt they had a strong understanding of Consumer Duty, while 10% stated they did not. More notably, 55% expressed a desire for further learning opportunities, highlighting the ongoing demand for professional development in this area.
In addition to the educational sessions, the summit provided a platform for brokers to connect with lenders and industry specialists, gaining insight into new products, services, and market developments. Exhibitors presented innovative solutions designed to help brokers enhance their offering and better serve their clients.
Following the event, Financial Reporter Events reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality learning and networking opportunities for mortgage professionals across the UK. With more Mortgage & Protection Summits and Specialist Lending Roadshows scheduled, brokers will have further opportunities to stay informed, expand their networks, and strengthen their expertise.
