Digital mortgage broker Habito has expanded its operations with the establishment of a dedicated protection department.

Habito, who recently introduced a specialist team, has announced further expansion plans supported by six new hires.

Rhys Walker, protection advice manager, is joined by protection experts Kulwinder Chana and Niladri Chakraborty to spearhead the newly formed team. They have all joined from Better.co.uk (previously Trussle).

Habito has also appointed Hannah Thornely and Matt Kingsbury to its engineering department, alongside mortgage expert Olivia Harris, who joins from Mojo mortgages.

Ying Tan, CEO of Habito, commented: “Having used a third party for protection referrals previously we felt it was time to bring the expertise in house. We are committed to simplifying the homebuying journey and putting customers first. We continue developing exciting technology, and this can only be achieved by continued investment into our talented engineering team. It is a great time to be a Habitonian!"

Rhys Walker, protection advice manager, added: “I am thrilled to join Habito in what is a very exciting phase for the business. I'm thankful for the chance to be part of this amazing company, and have the opportunity to shape the protection team from the ground up. It underscores our dedication to helping customers protect what matters most to them."
