"These represent two significant promotions which will further strengthen our business and also serve to demonstrate the depth of our talent pool"

Kharla has been with Countrywide for 24 years and throughout this time has held a number of key senior roles within conveyancing, account management, asset management and for the last 10 years within surveying. In her new role, she will assume a range of responsibilities including strengthening key relationships and supporting the development of the business by identifying growth opportunities. In addition, Kharla has been appointed deputy chair of the ESG steering group for the wider Connells Group.

John joined Countrywide in 2003 on a graduate training programme after starting his career in estate agency. He qualified as a residential surveyor in 2005 working in the East Midlands and Yorkshire and has since held a variety of senior management roles within the surveying business, leading the development of HomeFact, EnergyFact and PropertyFact products.

In his new role, John will create and oversee a long-term innovation strategy for Countrywide including the design, development and implementation of unique products both externally and internally. He will work with teams across the business, and with Countrywide’s clients, to deliver colleague and customer centric products and services to help drive the company forward.

Matthew Cumber, managing director at Countrywide Surveying Services, commented: “These represent two significant promotions which will further strengthen our business and also serve to demonstrate the depth of our talent pool and the progression path within the business. We also remain keen on encouraging and nurturing new talent from outside the business, meaning we will continue on our extensive recruitment drive, investing in our academy and strengthening our training and development programmes.”

Kharla Mullen said: “I am extremely proud of my time at Countrywide and delighted to take up my new position. I‘ve worked within the business for almost a quarter of a century and continue to be impressed by the key relationships we nurture, the quality of our team and not least their sheer determination to succeed.

“The pace at which our business moves is outstanding and we will continue to deliver on service and change, whilst doing it well. It’s very exciting to think about what the future looks like for us as a business and the industry as a whole.”

John McCurry added: “One of the best decisions I ever made was to apply for the graduate training scheme at Countrywide and it’s a real privilege to be appointed in a role that helps not only to shape the future of this business but also the industry. I’d recommend anyone thinking about wanting to become a surveyor or further their career to join us.”
